"La violetera" is a popular character from the streets of Madrid brought to the cinema in (1958) by our beloved Sarita. That left us with the melody and lyrics of the cuplé composed by José Padilla in 1914, with lyrics by Eduardo Montesinos, and performed and popularized by the Spanish singer Raquel Meller.
The cuplé was composed by José Padilla during his stay in Paris as conductor of the orchestra at the French capital's casino.
